The Auditório do Ramo Grande on Terceira stages O Chão Começou-me a Faltar on Sunday 1 November, a play built from real testimonies of people who lived through the 1980 earthquake. Directed by Lúcia Moniz, it returns to the memories and feelings of that disaster and to how the community held together. Francisco Jorge Ferreira, who headed the Santa Cruz parish council when the earthquake struck, also gives his own testimony on the night. Entry is free, but tickets have to be picked up beforehand at the box office of the Academia de Juventude e das Artes da Ilha Terceira or of the auditorium itself. It runs in Portuguese, so it is mainly for those who follow the language.
The Auditório do Ramo Grande is in Praia da Vitória on Terceira. The listing gives no start time; ask when you collect the ticket.
