What a Flores trip costs in 2026: the Corvo boat, bus fares, fuel, boat trips and canyoning
What Flores costs in 2026: Atlânticoline's fare to Corvo (EUR 16.30 one way), the UTC bus fares from February 2026, why the EUR 61 Azores Fare is for residents only, the October 2026 fuel cap, published prices for boat trips and canyoning, and which costs you have to ask for.
Flores is the far western end of the Azores, and the two biggest costs of a trip there, the flight and the bed, are priced by date. A good part of the rest has a published price: the boat to Corvo, the island bus, the fuel cap and most of the guided trips. This guide sets out those figures and says which ones you will have to ask for.
Every figure below carries the year it was published. Prices change, so check before you book.
Flights: the part you cannot price in advance
You reach Flores by air. SATA Air Açores flies between the airport in Santa Cruz das Flores and Ponta Delgada, Terceira, Horta and Corvo. Fares for visitors move with the date and the demand, so there is no figure to give you here. The flight times and the weather risk are in getting to Flores.
You may read about the EUR 61 return "Azores Fare" between islands. Only people with tax residence in the Azores can buy it. Visitors pay the normal fares, which come in classes that differ mainly in what a change costs. In October 2026 the airline's fare table charged EUR 20 to change the cheapest class, Smart, which cannot be refunded, while Value could be changed free of charge or refunded in full if you ask before departure.
If you fly to the Azores with Azores Airlines from outside, ask about the Azores Air Pass. It lets a non-resident with a ticket to the Azores add inter-island legs with up to three stops of more than 24 hours. Price Flores inside that ticket and as a separate booking, and take the cheaper.
The boat to Corvo
The one ferry fare you will pay on Flores is the crossing to Corvo. Atlânticoline runs it from Santa Cruz das Flores to Vila Nova do Corvo all year, in about 40 minutes, on a boat with 12 passenger seats. Its 2026 fare table gives:
- Adult, non-resident: EUR 16.30 one way, EUR 32.60 return.
- Child aged 3 to 12: EUR 8.15 one way, EUR 16.30 return.
- Over-65: EUR 11.40 one way, EUR 22.80 return.
Residents of the Azores pay EUR 10.70 one way, so a lower price quoted by a local is not a mistake. With only twelve seats, book as soon as your dates are fixed. What fits in a day on Corvo is in the Corvo day trip guide.
Getting around: bus fares, car and fuel
The cheapest way round the island is the UTC bus. Its fare table in force from 1 February 2026 gives these single fares:
- Santa Cruz to Fajã Grande: EUR 3.24.
- Santa Cruz to Ponta Delgada: EUR 3.18.
- Santa Cruz to Lajes: EUR 3.02.
- Lajes to Fajã Grande: EUR 3.02.
Children aged 4 to 11 pay half, with a minimum of EUR 0.90. The catch is the timetable: the buses run Monday to Friday only and there are few of them, so the bus works for a fixed trip, not for touring. The times are in getting around Flores.
For touring the island you will want a car. The rental firms are in Santa Cruz, with pick-up in town or at the airport, and none we found publishes its rates, so get quotes through a comparison site or directly. Ask early if you travel in July or August. Taxis are private and there is no published Flores tariff that we could verify for 2026, so agree the price before you set off.
Fuel in the Azores has a regional maximum price. From 1 October 2026 it is EUR 1.924 a litre for unleaded 95 and EUR 1.939 for diesel. The cap is revised during the year, so check the current figure. Where to fill up is in practical essentials on Flores.
A bed for the night
This is the cost we could not pin down. The places to stay on Flores publish their rates only once you choose dates. Aldeia da Cuada, a restored village between Fajã Grande and Fajãzinha, has 16 houses and quotes through its booking system or by phone on +351 292 552 127. Ask for a quote as soon as your dates are fixed, especially for July and August.
Which base suits which trip is in getting to Flores, under where to stay.
If you stopped on São Miguel first, you will have paid a tourist tax there: its six municipalities have charged EUR 2 a night since 1 January 2025. We found no such tax announced by either of Flores's two municipalities, Santa Cruz das Flores and Lajes das Flores. Your booking confirmation will show any tax that does apply.
Boat trips and canyoning
The boat operators do print prices. As listed in October 2026:
- Flores Fishing runs a three-hour tour of the sea caves and the waterfalls between Ponta da Caveira and Ponta Delgada, with a snorkelling stop if the sea allows, for EUR 60 a person, minimum two. A 50% deposit confirms the booking. If the weather cancels it, you get the deposit back or a new date.
- Be Azores Adventure lists a half-day boat tour and an Enxaréus cave tour from EUR 85 a person, and a full day along the coast from EUR 120, each with a minimum of four.

- Além Inferior, level 1: EUR 70.
- Ilhéus Médio, level 2: EUR 110.
- Ilhéus Médio and Inferior, level 3: EUR 160.
- Poço do Bacalhau, level 4: EUR 200.
- Barrosas: EUR 220.
If you need a lift to the canyon, the firm adds EUR 30 to 40 return, depending on the route. The same firm lists a lagoons and waterfalls tour at EUR 60, a west coast hike at EUR 60 and a round-the-island tour at EUR 90. WestCanyon, the other canyoning firm, does not publish prices. The levels are explained in canyoning on Flores.
