On Friday 6 November Fernanda Botelho leads a walk through the centre of Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel, looking at the spontaneous plants that grow in streets, along pavements and in other corners of the city. Along the route she names the species and explains their role in the ecosystem and their uses as food and medicine. The walk is part of the Estado de Graça, Maria Emanuel Albergaria programme, and it is free. A good fit for anyone who likes to see a town at walking pace and learn something on the way.
The walk is in central Ponta Delgada, easy to reach on foot from most hotels in town. The listing gives no meeting point or start time, so check them before you go.
The listing says nothing about rain; bring a jacket and check with the organisers if the weather turns.
