On Friday 6 November the Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional de Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel, hosts the launch of "Anos de Chumbo nos Açores. Violência política, separatismo e terrorismo (1974-1982)" by Roberto Pereira Rodrigues and Teófilo Braga. Iva Matos and Luís Bastos present the book. Its subject, political violence, separatism and terrorism in the Azores in the years after 1974, is a period few visitors know about. The evening is in Portuguese and aimed at a local readership, so it suits residents and Portuguese speakers interested in recent island history.
The regional library is in Ponta Delgada on São Miguel. The listing gives no start time; check before going. Within the city, walking or a short taxi ride works.
