Serra do Topo - Fajã dos Vimes

The short, steep way off the Serra do Topo down to Fajã dos Vimes on the south coast. It leaves the regional road, turns into scrub of Azorean heather, juniper and blueberry, and then takes an old rock stairway down the cliff — muddy and slippery in wet weather, which is why the register grades 5.5 km as hard. It ends at the little harbour, where the village's quilt workshop and its own coffee are the reason to stay.
