The south-coast traverse from Vila do Porto to Praia Formosa. It passes the Pedreira do Campo, whose marine fossils are the island's geological signature. Beyond Prainha the coast has a fixed steel cable, and the register marks a signed alternative for rough weather. It ends at Praia Formosa, one of two limestone-sand beaches found nowhere else in the Azores. Medium, 8 km, three hours.
