Soprano Carla Caramujo and pianist Pedro Lopes give a recital at the Museu das Lajes on Flores on 7 November at 21:00. The programme follows a run of opera's female characters through love, betrayal, war, madness and sacrifice: the Countess Almaviva, Lia, Cecília, Liú, and finally Lucia, whose fragility closes the evening. It crosses periods and styles rather than sticking to one composer. On an island as small as Flores, a classical recital of this kind is rare; if you are there that weekend, it is a good way to spend the evening.
