Hanna weakens but is still expected to affect all Azores islands
Yellow precipitation warnings remain in force as post-tropical depression Hanna approaches the Azores, with heavy rain and possible thunderstorms forecast.
Post-tropical depression Hanna was about 1,010 kilometres southwest of the Azores at 09:00 and is expected to affect weather across all islands, despite losing intensity in recent hours.
The system may bring sometimes heavy precipitation, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms. Yellow weather warnings for precipitation remain in force.
Its effects are expected first in the Western group, including Flores and Corvo, and the Central group, including Faial, Pico and São Jorge, from Thursday afternoon. In the Eastern group, including São Miguel and Santa Maria, the depression is expected from early Friday until Saturday morning.
RTP Açores previously reported that the Azores were placed under a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms.
