SOS Cagarro volunteers meet in Feteira, on Terceira, on Friday 6 November at 20:00, and the patrol sets off at 20:15. The job is to find and rescue young cagarros (Cory's shearwaters) that leave their nests at this time of year and get confused by artificial light, ending up on roads and in villages. Participants are asked to bring suitable clothing, a torch and a reflective vest. It is a hands-on evening rather than a show, and one of the few ways a visitor can take part in island conservation directly.
Feteira is on Terceira; the listing does not give the exact meeting point, so confirm it with the organisers. You will need your own way there and back in the evening, by car or taxi.
The listing says nothing about cancellation for rain; dress for wet weather and check before setting out.
