The regional public library and archive on Terceira marks 130 years since the birth and 60 years since the death of Jaime Brasil, a journalist and writer from the island, with «Jaime Brasil: da ilha ao mundo», open until 30 January 2027. Through documents and testimony it follows his life and work: his opposition to the Estado Novo dictatorship, and the censorship, persecution and prison he faced for it. Of real interest if you follow Portuguese history or press freedom; heavy on text, so better for Portuguese readers.

Practical information

The Biblioteca Pública e Arquivo Regional Luís da Silva Ribeiro is on Terceira; the listing gives no address or opening hours, so check both before you go.
