On Wednesday 4 November at 18:30 the auditorium of the public library and regional archive in Angra do Heroísmo, on Terceira, hosts the launch of Altar ao Divino Espírito Santo, Tradição e Modernidade. The book by Fabiana Ourique documents the altars to the Holy Spirit in pictures, gathered on Terceira, São Jorge, Graciosa, Corvo and São Miguel and in Azorean communities in the United States and Canada. The Holy Spirit festivities are central to life on the islands, and this is a chance to see how the altars are made today. The presentation is in Portuguese, so it suits those who speak it or have a serious interest in the tradition.

Practical information

The library is at Rua do Morrão 42 in Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira, within walking distance of the town centre.
