Letras Lavadas will stage book launches, storytelling, workshops and literary sessions for children, young people, adults and older residents through 17 October.

Livraria Letras Lavadas will open its Folhas de Outono Literary Festival on 12 October with "Colcha de Memórias", a literary session for older people. The day also includes a Shantarin session on Fernando Pessoa for young people, a storytelling session with Tiago Roque presenting "O Cão de Algodão", and the launch of Vítor Teves' "Arlequim, A Arte de Alimentar a Tribo", presented by Ana Oliveira.

On 13 October, the programme includes a recycled-materials visual arts workshop for children and young people, another Shantarin session on Fernando Pessoa for young audiences, and a further storytelling session with Tiago Roque and "O Cão de Algodão". Father Carlos Simas' book "Emmanuel, Uma Busca de Sentido num Mundo em Sombras" will be launched, with Cristina Ventura presenting it.

"Colcha de Memórias" returns on 14 October, followed by a discussion on literature in adolescence and youth led by teacher Paula Santos. Juan Carballo and Grupo Palavras Sentidas will take part in a poetry gathering, and Patrícia Carreiro will launch a children's and young adult book.

Two storytelling sessions are planned for 15 October: one with Carlos Nuno Granja and another with Patrícia Carreiro and illustrator Cor Carmim. Isabel Leal's children's book "10 Histórias Para Ler e Sonhar" will be presented by Conceição Freitas. A Literary Dinner with Galician poet Juan Carballo will be held at the Galeria de Arte do Casino Azores; it costs 40 euros, with registration through the form on the Casino Azores, Arts & Culture social-media pages.

Carlos Nuno Granja will lead a session for older people on 16 October. Shantarin will hold a literary session on Fernando Pessoa's "Livro do Desassossego", in a special edition translated into five languages. Arsénio Chaves Puim's "Echoes of Azorean Life" and "Ilha de Santa Maria, Recortes da História de um Povo" will be presented with Pilar Damião and translator Giuseppe Formato.

The final day, 17 October, begins with Carlos Nuno Granja's writing workshop "A Arte de Gostar de Escrever", which requires a 10-euro registration at Livraria Letras Lavadas. The day also includes the monthly Letras Lavadas Reading Club session; Granja's presentation of "A Biblioteca Itinerante é Bastante Extravagante" at the Biblioteca Municipal Daniel de Sá travelling library in Ribeira Grande; and Casino Talks at the bookshop. Ana Cristina Baptista will moderate the discussion, "A Arte Faz Bem ao Cérebro", with Maria Carolina, Alexandre Pascoal, Claudia Marques and Ivo Baptista. The festival closes with Brenda S. Medina's "Por Detrás da Máscara", presented by Miguel Leite.
