Ethics and anti-corruption sessions reach 300 Azores students
The Azores Government said GPCT promoted ethics and anti-corruption sessions as part of a national initiative.
The Azores Government's Office for the Prevention of Corruption and Transparency (GPCT) promoted awareness sessions on ethics, integrity, transparency and corruption prevention for about 300 students from 20 classes at schools on São Miguel and Corvo.
The sessions were for basic and secondary school students and took place within the national Dias da Integridade e Anticorrupção initiative. The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Justice and the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism (MENAC) promoted the initiative, with GPCT involved in the Azores.
Professionals from Justice, Public Administration and Academia led the sessions. They encouraged reflection on ethics, transparency, integrity and civic responsibility. They also alerted young people to the role each citizen can play in preventing corruption and defending the public interest.
The initiative gave students different perspectives and experiences related to promoting a culture of integrity. The government said participation reinforces regional efforts to promote integrity, transparency and good governance, and awareness among younger generations of the importance of honest and responsible public institutions.
The government said involving the educational community aims to strengthen trust in institutions and help form more aware, informed citizens committed to legality and public responsibility.
