Thomas Threinen's island paintings at Casa do Arcano

Edges and Shadows (Sombras Encantadas) is the first solo exhibition of the American artist Thomas Threinen, at the Museu Casa do Arcano on São Miguel from 9 October to 4 December 2026. The show is made up of 19 canvases. Their subjects are places around the island, the small details of island life, and Azorean food and identity seen through the eyes of a foreign painter. If you are already on São Miguel it makes a good stop on a day along the north coast or a rainy afternoon; it is not a reason on its own to fly in from another island.
