The Museu Casa do Arcano on São Miguel holds the workshop "Lapinha, um pequeno tesouro açoriano" on 24 and 31 October and 7 and 14 November 2026, from 14:00 to 17:00. Conceição Aguiar leads the sessions, in which participants build their own lapinha, the miniature nativity scene that is one of the most characteristic pieces of Azorean folk culture. Registration is required. With Christmas approaching, it is a practical way to take home something made on the island rather than bought.

Practical information

The Casa do Arcano museum is in Ribeira Grande on São Miguel's north coast. Buses run from Ponta Delgada, though a car or taxi is simpler for an afternoon session.
