On Thursday 5 November the Museu Carlos Machado in Ponta Delgada hosts the opening session of the São Miguel edition of Ilhas do Amanhã (Islands of Tomorrow). The project, part of the Ponta Delgada, Portuguese Capital of Culture 2026 programme, looks at the future of island territories: identity, culture and the problems small islands face. This session launches its programme on São Miguel. Entry is free. Expect an opening event rather than a finished show, held in Portuguese.

The museum is in central Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, within walking distance of the old town and the harbour front. No car needed if you are staying in the city.
