On 31 October Lagoa council on São Miguel runs the second edition of "Pelos Limites Geográficos do Concelho", a walk that follows the edge of the municipality with guide António Rego. The route keeps to footpaths, shortcuts, rural and farm tracks, grazing land and forest rather than roads. Places have to be booked in advance. A good pick for walkers who want countryside off the usual trails, if you can manage a guided group in Portuguese.

Lagoa is on São Miguel; the listing gives no meeting point, start time or length, which you get when you register with the council.

Outdoors on rural ground; after rain the tracks and pasture will be muddy, so wear boots and bring a waterproof, and check with the organisers if the forecast is bad.
