The 14th Corrida Noturna da Juventude Ilha Verde runs through São José parish in Ponta Delgada on Saturday 7 November. Start and finish are on Rua de Lisboa, outside the parish council, and each 1,500-metre lap passes the Coliseu, Avenida Roberto Ivens and Campo de São Francisco before returning by Rua Teófilo de Braga and Rua José Bensaúde. The under-12, under-14, under-16 and adapted-sport categories start at 18:30; the other runners set off at 18:50 for two to six laps, depending on category. The race counts towards the road-running championship and is organised by CDC Juventude Ilha Verde and the São José parish council with the São Miguel athletics association. Registration terms and deadlines are with the organisers, who advise runners to bring a torch. If you are in the city that evening, it is a free, close-up look at local club running from the pavement.
In central Ponta Delgada on São Miguel; the loop passes Campo de São Francisco, a short walk from the city centre and the marina, so no car is needed.
An outdoor road race; the listing says nothing about bad weather, so check with the organisers if heavy rain is forecast.
