SITAVA demands disclosure in Azores Airlines sale
The aviation and airport workers' union says workers need information on the selected candidates, their plans and how proposals were assessed.
SITAVA has demanded that SATA Holding identify the selected candidates in the Azores Airlines privatisation process, explain their plans for the airline and set out the criteria used to assess proposals. The union also called for an urgent meeting with organisations representing workers.
According to SITAVA, it is unacceptable that workers and the public still do not know the identity of potential buyers or the projects they have presented for the company's future.
The union compared the process with the TAP privatisation, saying interested parties and their proposals were publicly known in that case. It said that, in the Azores Airlines process, a majority of the capital is to be sold but the names of the selected candidates are not known.
SITAVA said some commercial information may justify confidentiality, but it should not be used to keep workers uninformed about a decision that will deeply affect their professional future and aviation in the Azores. It said a privatisation with greater impact requires greater transparency and public scrutiny.
Source 1 says SATA Holding will disclose the candidates' names on 9 December.
This site previously reported that SATA handling unions announce strike periods over privatisation.
