Teatro Faialense in Horta, on Faial, shows A Amiga Silenciosa on Tuesday 3 November at 18:30. The 2025 drama, a German, Hungarian, French and Chinese co-production, follows three people across more than a century, a botany student with a camera in 1908, a researcher of animal behaviour in 1972 and a Hong Kong neuroscientist during the 2020 lockdown, all drawn to the same ginkgo in a botanical garden in a German university town. It competed at Venice in 2025 and came away with seven awards, among them best young actress and the FIPRESCI critics' prize. It runs 147 minutes and is rated M/12. Tickets cost 5 euros at the box office of the Mercado Municipal.
Teatro Faialense is in the centre of Horta, a walk from the marina and the town's main streets.
